SparkNJ is a nonprofit organization that was founded with a mission to address this inequity by providing unrestricted grants to Black-led nonprofits in New Jersey.​
Meet Our 2025 Grant Recipients
In September, we celebrated our fourth grant year and awarded a total of $105,000 to 12 nonprofits in five counties.

Our Work
​​SparkNJ provides financial support to 501(c)3 organizations that are already fulfilling their mission, but are in need of additional operating funds to continue and grow their work. Following a trust-based philanthropy model, SparkNJ depends on Nominators, individuals rooted in and knowledgeable about local communities, to identify potential grant recipients.
Organizations can fill a wide variety of the community's needs – from family support, health care, workforce training, and education to theater and the arts.

Our all-volunteer organization awards 100% of donations to our grantees. We operate independently, but under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of New Jersey.​​
